The further fact that the Government of India was only a subordinate branch of the British Government and was not coposed of the representatives of the people of India renders the analogy even more apposite. [...] (1) In Gwalior the bulk of the capital for a starch factory had been collected inside the State and permission was sought to collect the balance in the neighbouring British Indian ditricts but the Government of India refused this pemission; when the promoters managed to collect the balance also in the State the Government of India later prohibited the sale of the factory's products in Bri [...] Now it is learnt the Government of India are thinking of relaxing the ban on the emigration of unskilled labour to Malaya to the extent necessary to meet the labour requirement there in order to rhabilitate the country. [...] If to the expendture of the Government of India was added the ependiture of the provincial governments during the same years which aggregated to 764 crores the extent of the hold over production and consumption which war has placed in the hand of the Government bcomes still more impressive. [...] Inflation in Relation to Economic Activity Inflation and taxation have the same object to serve the appropriation of goods and labour to the use of ve the appropriation of goods and labour to the use of Government.
