Our greatest interest in the maintenance of the sterling area intact and in its growing strength—and consequently in the terms of the Anglo-American bilteral pact within which the sterling area will function for the next four years—arises however from the fact that either our withdrawal or the further contraction of this currency area as a result of American policy in Western Europe will ma [...] This right is merely the obverse of the fact that the State is the supreme instrument for adjusting differences so as to secure the greatest welfare of all. [...] The principle of the etinction of zamindari rights by compensation as propoed need therefore be no warning of dangers ahead; it is a perfectly logical outcome of the acceptance of the paramountcy of the State in matters of general wefare. [...] In the race between rice prodution the staple food of about halt the human race and the growth of population in the rice-eating areas the fatter has left the former far behind. [...] Through the medium of this journal the Ministry of Agriculture seeks to present every month an integrated picture of the agricultural situation in the country together with a record of important developments in the field of Agriculture Forestry and Fisheries and some really usful statistical information.
