Gromyko has suggested the following order of priority: (1) demilitarisation of Germany; (2) reduction of the armed forces of the Big Four; (3) existing level of armaments and establish ment of international control over the reduction of armed f [...] The five per cent increase in the General Index has been the result mainly of the 14 per cent increase in the index for Industrial raw materials and the 5.6 per cent increase in manufactures but both in turn were the outcome of the jump in prices of raw jute and jute manufactures as a result of the import of Pakistan jute and decontrol of finished jute. [...] The sanction behind the advice was certainly the possibility of a directive but the principle behind the exercise of the directive powers was cetainly democratic in the sense that it was capable of being controlled by the Indian Parliament. [...] The committee's terms of reference are to suggest remedies for the introduction of modern methods of agriculture for improving the existing methods of grading and marketing of agricultural prduce for improvement of facilities for the provision of finance and for better collection and maintenance of statistics as a reliable basis for the formulation of development plans.
