With the satisfactory implementation of trade policy the great improvement in administrative routine the ready appreciation of the Ministry of the difficulties of traders there is every justification for looking to the future of imports and exports with confidence. [...] Khaitan's oservations were of course limited to the present diffculties of the Bata Shoe Company but they bring home the extent to which the smaller units in the industry are currently caught in the grip of the slump. [...] In the wake of the slump that has immediately affected the purchasing power of the middle and lower classes the mainstay of the industry sales have declined and all measures of special price reductions so far have proved insufficient to halt the fall in sales. [...] Practising managers will be delivering the lectures and the trainees will have the advantages of the comprhensive collection of the most modern text books and publications on management in the library of the Institute." [...] According to the provisional figures of the Nethelands Central Bureau of Statistics the value of the goods imported into the Netherlands in September 1952 was 613 million guilders while goods to the value of 702 million were exported from the Netherlands.
