The political organiztion of the Zemindars wedded to a policy of progress combined with the maintenance of order in the country dispensing even-handed justice to all and preventing the tyranny of the majority over the minority will then accord its whole-hearted support to wise and steady policy of effecting any gradual improvement in the conditions of the Indian tenantry It is needless to p [...] Its aim was "the collection and dissemination of information relating to the actual condition of the people of British India and the laws institutions and resources of the country ; and to employ such other means of a peaceable and lawful character as may appear calculated to secure the welfare extend the just rights and advance the interests of all classes of our fellow subjects."
