The contrbution relates specifically to a brief enunciation of the problems of post-war reconstruction organiztion of scientific and industrial research in India and the scope and functions of the proposed National Research Council.] POST-WAR PROBLEMS Only a broad outline of the problems of post-war reconstruction can be attempted at present. [...] It may be presumed that in the post-war period ample scope will he provided for both private enteprise and individual initiative in conformity with the avowed policy of the Allies of doing most good for most people." (1) The first concern of the Government during the period of transition from the War to a peace-time basis will be to find employment for the men demobilised from the army navy [...] The function of a pickling solution is to remove from the annealed coin blanks oxides of the base metals used in the composition leaving thus a thin coating of silver on the surface which gives the characteristic white and bright appearance to the finished coin. [...] The action of the bichromate was to complete the oxidtion of cuprous oxide to cupric oxide thus rendering possible the complete removal of the film by the acid. [...] Towards the later stages of the process— when the concentration of copper ions in the catholyte decreased and that of hydrogen ion increased more and more hydrogen was evolved and the quality of the copper deposit became spongy.
