The combination of these two the normal and the activated molecules of acetylene results in the formation of monovinylacetylene. [...] The gas then passes through an orifice meter 01 and a safety catch K2 into the reaction vessel R. The inlet of the gas into the reaction vessel is of the form of an inverted cone provided with tiny holes in order to ensure proper distribution of the gas stream throughout the volume of the catalyst. [...] The small streams of the gas entering the chamber at the bottom serve to keep the liquid in constant agitation thus maintaining the undissolved cuprous chloride in a state of suspension. [...] The catalyst chamber has a thermometer pocket a tube for charging of the catalyst and an outlet at the bottom for the dicharging of the catalyst after the experiment. [...] The values of the magnetic susceptibility of the liquid under investigation at different temperatures have been calculated by the equation : 2g 9 Pa = -H2 + Ita — P where % = susceptibility of the liquid under investigation %a— susceptibility of gas (in this case air) density of the gas density of the liquid displacement of the meniscus.
