Professor Unwala also referred to the analogy which is no doubt familiar to all of us that of the parallelogram of forces " in which the one side of the parallelogram represents the original force that is the Pr&rabdha Karma and the other side the new force which we bring to bear on it that is the will ; while the diagonal represents the actual effect of the past Karma as it works out in oar [...] He remarked that a question had once been asked of him as to what the angle between the two sides represented and he suggesed that it might represent the effect on the working out of Karma of the geographical conditions of the country in which a man is born of the time of the national customs of his family associations and so on. [...] The.quality of the grain which we put in at the top of the basket is to a large extent dependent on the quality of the grain already in the basket especially of that which we are just now drawing out at the bottom ; the second side of our parallelogram is to some extent dependent on the first side both as to its direction and as to its length.
