Whether the injury to the individual is accidental or intentional on the part of the State or on the part of the Fudge (except one of most inferior jurisdiction) the injured person is left without redress. [...] The object of this article is to show the methods by which the lagislatures of Europe have solved the problem of indemnifying those innocent individuals who in the exercise of a sovereign right beneficial to society and to the state in its function as the preserver of the public peace have been unjustly arrested detained or convicted and punished. [...] The movement for the indemnification by the State of erroneously convicted persons was begun toward the end of the eighteenth century in France the land of liberty equality and 'fraternity " and of the " social contract." One of its most earnest champions was Voltaire the friend of the oppressed. [...] In the new edition the text of the statute is revised in the light of the latest amendment and the notes of case law have been amplified and brought up to date The work is indispensable to every member of the profession and its convenience and accuracy cannot be exaggerated vol. [...] The volume begins with an explanation of the fundmental principles of the Law of Agency ; this is followed by a treament of the form and scope of the instrument the rights duties and liabilities of the principal as also of the agent.
