According to the Statistical Abstract of the United States fcr the year r926 there were enrolled in the law schools of the country 34 732 students as compared with 18 880 in the medical schools of the country 52 947 in the dental schools 9 951 in the pharmacy schools and so on. [...] This leaves out of consideration the corporate entities of the country that are large sources of legal work but this omission the reader will find justified in that in the large cities the homes of corporate business we find almost twice as many lawyers in proportion to the population as we do in the rest of the country and by tLe further fact that practically all the lucrative corporate practi [...] The report of the Carnegie Foundation for the year 19.23 shows that only fifteen of the forty-eight states of the Union require of the prospective lawyer any definite amount of general education and following this a definite period of law study. [...] IIe does not know that the.latter has the degree of LI. B. and the former not nor does he realize the vast gulf between the educational background of the latter and the lick of it in the former. [...] The plaintiff took possession of the propert7 and then came to learn that the widow had a co-widow who on the former's death became the owner of the whole property and the plaintiff's title was extinguished.
