The Vakils’ Association of the Calcutta High Court has sent up a strong representation to the Hon’ble the Chief Justice and Judges against the nev Appellate Side Rules which were brought into operation on and from the date of The re-opening of the High Court after the Long Vacation. [...] They have also directed that one of the rules which caused the greatest irritation among Vakils namely the one prohibiting the taking of pen or ink into the inspetion room shall nut be enforced in the case of Vakils entering the inspection room for the inspection of records. [...] We are thoroughly in agreement with the view expressed in the Vakils' presentation in which they maintain " that they are entitled to the fullest confidence of the Judges in all matters affecting the adminitration of justice on the Appellate Side of the High Court and that no important changes in practice or procedure should be made without reference to the Association." There are no uoubt in [...] In the preface to the New Edition of the Rules the justifi ration which is put forward for the " extensive revision of the appellate Side Rules" is that it has been necessitated by "the adop'don of the method recently suggested by the Privy Council as regards the sytem of preparation of the records in Civil Appeals." What that " method" is ' or where it has been suggested —whether in the judg [...] The suggestion no doubt is that in regard to most of the changes which have been made in the rules the High Court found its hands forced by the direc:i ns of their Lc rdships of the 3'udicial Committee.
