In the course of his reply Sir James Meston after acknowledging the expressions which the address contained of loyalty and faith in the triumph of the British Empire and its Allies said :- You leave with a confidence which I assure you will not be misplaced the encouragment of the more simple forms of education in the hands of the Government but you realise the importance of a vigorous eff [...] In view however of the variation of standard in different schools the majority of the committee are opposed to the idea of this record being utilized in any way by the examiners in connection with the results of the examination. [...] The other novel features of the scheme are the proposals (a) that all the pupils of the highest class should be examined together each school being furnished with a report on the general character of the work done and (b) that the examination should be held as far as possible in the school itself or at any rate in the same town. [...] In the case of the subjects which are to he reconized as equivalent to the present school final eamination the committee recommend a reversion to the former practice by which of the mathematical subjects only arithmetic was made compulsory as it is understood that the transfer of algebra and gemetry from the optional to the compulsory list has practically killed the other optional subject [...] The following is the annual report of the University Syndicate on the University Library Library for the year r915 : During the year under review the Library continued under the management of the Registrar subject to the general control of the Library Executive Committee.
