I did not and do not wish to teach the world art and science ; I know none I did and do wish to make the learing of the first beet i points easy for the common people who are fersakettrAWf eft to run wild ; to open the doors of art which are the Moors of manliness to the poor and the weak of the lanti.; and if I can to set fire to the barrier that keeps the humbler citizens; of Europe i [...] The estblishment of the School of Mining at Dhanbad ; the raising of the status of the Forest Research Institute at Dehra Dun ; the proposals for expanding the research-work at Puna ; and opening facilities for naval training to Indian students—these are among the evidences of advance in the direction. [...] The Benares Hindu University also received the splendid benefaction of two lakhs of rupees from His Highness the Gaekwar of Baroda for the building of the University Library while the Aligarh University had also the promise of a sum of three lakhs of rupees from His Highness the Nawab of Bhopal for the establishment of the much-needed College of Science at the University. [...] The discontent which found exprssion in the Provinces with regard to the effects of the new scheme of Intermediate Education was responsible for the appointment of a committee by the local Government to consder the improvements which may be introduced into the High Schools and Intermediate Colleges within the provisions of the present High School and Intermediate Act. [...] Among the notable events in the Province of Bihar and Orissa is the settlement during the year of the long-standing dispute regarding the shifting of the University to a site quite outside the city.
