The Committee on University Reform in 1925 while noting the growth in the number of candidates appearing at the Bombay examinations in 1924 remarked that only in the case of the Matriculation examination could the number be said to be already really unwieldy. [...] The aim to be kept in view is the making of gardens for the purpose of direct instruction rather than for the improvement or adornment of the school ground. [...] From the time the seed is sown or plants are set in the garden the surface of the soil should be kept loose and frequent stirring of the soil round the plants is necessary. [...] The socialistic tendency aims at the development of the individual for the betterment of the society. [...] The Montessori method caters for the individuality of the edcand and keeps the teacher in the background.
