The larger the family the less is the burden thrown on the younger women of the household. [...] A small quantity of ash being pulverised a finger mark of the same is applied to the head of the mother and to that of the child and the rest being tied in a piece of rag is placed near the head under the bed of the lady. [...] On the eleventh day a preparation of milk sugar and rice is prepared and a small quantity of the same is placed near the spot where the umbilical cord is buried and the rest is partaken of by the members of the family. [...] On the sixth day after the birth of the child a piece of white cloth of the size of a handkerchief a sheet of paper a small quantity of kunikwm (red powder) and an unused reed pen were placed near the bedstead of the mother as it was believed that Nidhatri wrote the fate of the child that night. [...] The minutes of the previous Meeting were read and cofirmed:— The Honorary Secretary called the attention of the Society to a complimentary notice of the Society's Journal in the 211houvain for March the 31st wherein special reference was made to the papers which had appeared upon the Evil"A LIST OF TWENTY OCCULT SCIENCES.
