[...] The preamble of the Draft starts with the historic phrase “ We the people which in the light of the subsequent provisions creating condtions for the establishment of a strong centralised state is emptied of all its momentous connotation. [...] The privy purse of the Rajpramukhs and the Rillers of the covnanted States will be determined by the Union Government and will be therefore beyomf the jurisdiction of the State legislature. [...] The latest defeat of a Congress nominee in the South Calcutta bye-election has perhaps an additional signficance because of the fact that the Congress High Command had made the result of the electoral contest a matter of prestige: Both Pandit Nehru and Sardar Patel issued fervent appeals to the electorate to give their verdict in favour of the Congress candidate in the interests of the newly-ga [...] Nationalism in the West propagates the superiority of the Anglo-Saxon race and the American way of life The reverse side of this nationalism is the ideology of cosmopolitanism preached by the right-wing Socialists.
