But that has never beeon accepted by the Security Council the Kashmir Commission Or the democtatic conscience of the world who all hold and even the Government of India have since accepted that whether or not Kashmir is..a part of India is to be decided by the free will of the people of Kashmir. [...] Membership of the comity of European nations means geographically that the holder of Istanbul (the old Constantnople) and guardian of the Straits cannot be separated from the rest of Europe; morally that the immense political social and cultural changes wrought by the Kemalist revolution which in the space of a quarter of a century converted backward Asiatic people into a modern nation im [...] Since the country will be called upon to sacrifice to support the stand of the Government it is entitled to know exactly what is the stand of the Government. [...] The Kashmir issue has assumed a strategic character not from the purely Indian point of view but from the point of view of internafional power-politics the Russo-American struggle for the domination of the world. [...] Consequently the issue of the right of self-determination of the people of Kashmir has been lost in the struggle between India and Pakistan for the conquest of Kashmir.
