[...] Membership of the comity of European nations means geographically that the holder of Istanbul (the old Constantnople) and guardian of the Straits cannot be separated from the rest of Europe; morally that the immense political social and cultural changes wrought by the Kemalist revolution which in the space of a quarter of a century converted backward Asiatic people into a modern nation im [...] Since the country will be called upon to sacrifice to support the stand of the Government it is entitled to know exactly what is the stand of the Government. [...] The Kashmir issue has assumed a strategic character not from the purely Indian point of view but from the point of view of internafional power-politics the Russo-American struggle for the domination of the world. [...] Consequently the issue of the right of self-determination of the people of Kashmir has been lost in the struggle between India and Pakistan for the conquest of Kashmir.
