Strong 6 J. who delivered the judgment of the Court held as follows with reference to the chattel mortgage :—Itdeclares the endorsement of the note ti) be the consideration and sets out the note itself which is surely a sufficient compliance with the requirements of the Act that the consideration shotuld be recited. [...] It is sufficien ' to state the facts and leave the legal effect to be inferred." This was re lly all that was legally necessary for the decision of the question before the Courtt but the Chief Justice went on to express his opinion as to the validity of the endorsement of the note - as follows : "I.agree with thgy reasons given by their lordships in the Court of Appeal for deciding this case in [...] Besides ill such eases each of the parties clings to the authority of the other the Magistrate to that of the witness who he thinks must know all about it ; the witness to that of the Magistrate who is deemed to be well versed in the law. [...] The ideal representative of this age is the young lady to whom the disappearance of the world would be a matter of no moment compared with the momentous matter of a ball ; or the society woman for whom the club or society is the most serious thing under the sun. [...] [Vo. woman profound sentiments ; for the man the world is his heart ; foi the woman her heart is the world." This explains the vast difference between the standpoints of observation of the man and the woman.
