before the court is laid down in the Civil and Criminal Procedure Code.$ When the witness is in Government employ the court should also send a copy of the process to the departmental superior of the witness on the same date as that on which the summons is sent to the witness. [...] If it shall appear that the amount deposited on account of travelling and other expenses of the witness in passing to and from the Court is not sufficient the Court may order a further sum to be paid to him on that account and if not paid the Judge may order such sum.to be levied by attachment and sale of the movable property of the party obtaining the summons or may discharge the witness. [...] By the first clause of section 13 where the services of a workman are temporarily lent or let on hire to another person by the person with whom the workman has entered into a contract of service or apprenticeship the latter shall for the purposes of the Act be deemed to continue to be the employer of the workman whilst he is working for such other persons. [...] An attempt is made first to describe generally the character of the different systems that underlie the jurisprudence of the legal world and their relations to the present laws of the British dominions ; and secondly"14 THE CRIMINAL LAW JOURNAL.
