The name Nujol" is a guarantee to the profession of absolute purity and insures that the viscosity of the liquid paraffin so labeled is physiologically correct at body temperature and in accord with the opinion of leading medical authorities. [...] Having regard however to the importance of the subject mention must be made of the recent work bearing on the subject of the present enquiry. [...] The researches of Ogata (1897) Simond (1898) Gauthier and Raybaud (1903) and the Indian Plague Commission (1906-1907) have I definitely established the transmission of bubonic plague from rat to rat and from rat to man through the agency of the rat-fleas and possibly of other fleas. [...] As a result of the flea survey of the Indian rats Cragg (1921 1923) came to the conclusion that the distribution of plague was closely correlated with the prevalence of X. cheopis. [...] Taylor lays great stress on the method of illuminating the specimen and recommends the use of a white filter paper with a coarse surface on the stage of the microscope.
