So that the net result of getting rid of filth disease and malaria would be that inhabitants of India would die of starvation instead and the last state of the country would be worse than the first. [...] Some indication of the low standard of living amongst the majority of the inhabitants of this country may be obtained from the value of foreign goods imported. [...] Whatever may have been the success of the British Raj in reselling this country from the chaos into which the fall of the Mogul Empire plunged it and however beneficial the effect of British rule in many other respects; it can only be considered that as regards any serious improvement in the health of the inhabitants of this Empire the rsults of British Administration have been to a great exte [...] the Vice-President of the Calcutta Medical Club and a Member of the Bengal Medical Assocition and a Member of the Carmichael Medical College and Hospitals. [...] He founded a Higher Class English School in his native village was one of the trustees of the Sham Bazar A. V. School a Member of the executive committee of the Calcutta Orphange as also that of the Soya Bazar Benevolent Society and a Member of the Calcutta District Charitable Society.
