[...] As regards the inability of human nature to forget the dead he writes "The love which survives the tomb is one of the noblest attributes of the Soul. But though remembrance has some comfort at least yet the charm of it is neutralised by the unbearable pang that follows it and in my case the affliction far exceeds the charm. [...] sternest man under the the Sun the foulest robber on the Earth the most dejected of all mankind —all start up at the word and pay the beautiful tribute of a sigh or a tear or both to the motherless who utters if.
