[...] Such is the case with the illiterate while the literate people of the village muster strong in the parlour of one of their friends and spend the evening in gossips and useful debates. [...] in the two wires if at the first moment the first wire is negative and the second one is positive at the next moment the first wire will be positive and the second wire will be the negative. [...] The only differance between the wave of water and the wave of ether lies in (1) the length and the frequency of the waves and (II) their direction. [...] So when we reached the bank of the river the vast expanse of the water before the blue and infinite sky above the soft murmurs of the ripples the icomparable beauty of the scenery around—all combined to produce a feeling in our mind which may better be imagined than described.
