On the day of the King's Funeral in London and simultaneouly with millions of his mourning subjects we again met to thank GOD for the life of a great and good man and to lay hold afresh of the promise of the resurrection to Eternal Life through Jesus Christ our Lord and to pray for our beloved young Queen Elizabeth called so suddenly and unexpectedly to the Throne at such a critical time in [...] Duncan recalled the earnestness with which the King had at all times encouraged his people to read GOD'S Word and quoted the message which the King had caused to be printed in the flyleaf of the New Testaments given to the fighting forces and civil defence service during World War 11.--To all.serving in my Forces by sea or land or in the air and indeed to all my people engaged in the defen [...] Anthony would not find it possible to leave before the end of the present Parliamentary session which as we all know is the last before the General Election and on account of the need to rush through certain important legislation such as the Press Bill and the Control of Industries Bill the session has had to be extended to the I lth of this month. [...] The plight and need of the needy and helpless children of the Anglo-Indian Comunity naturally caUcd for all his effort to put into effect with the help of men and women of goodwill who rallied round him those principles of love and good faith of service and self sacrifice. [...] In these beautiful surroundings and the healthy atmosphere of these hills he sought to bring up these children of European descent free from the squalor and dirt of city life and from the enervating climate of the plains.
