VIRA CHOLAN had to get rid of the crime of killing SAPLIVAHANA styled Sarpa-thlvha-Brahm-hatti (that is a degree of sacredness adhering to SALIVWRANA as born under the ifluence of Athi-seshan assimilating the crime to the evil of brahmaslaughter though not the same). [...] Besides the intimation given in the early part of the work of human sacrifices hay-.1838] Record of the time of Cari Cab C'holan. [...] The writer's chief object seems to have been to frame an account of the foundation of the various shrines scattered over the extent of the Carnatic proper. [...] The fine-rain rather seems to be a symbol of the anger of Si VA in plainer terms an insurrection against SaiLivir.e*NA ; and if so the shower of mud may have a symbolical meaning also ; and may help to the meaning of a tradition which states that Uriyur the capital of the Chola kingdom was destroyed by a shower of sand or mud. [...] There follows a story (not complete) founded on the question whther the learned or the vulgar are to be blamed in the impositions practised under the sanction of the popular system of idolatry ?" Also a memorandum from one of the Colonel's Agents as to MSS.
