The great country of Hinmvat which is the chosen land of Arya Chanrassig (Avalokitoshvara) for the propagation of Budhism and which stands aloof from the rest of the world on account of the lofty snow barriers which surround it is known by the general name of Po. [...] To the east of the Kirong district lies Nalam (Nanam) (to the south of which is the Nalam pass) in the vicinity of which are Gang thang the birthplace of Rva Lochava and Toipa phug the hermitage of the sago. [...] To the east of this place lies Shing Dong kar whore there is a fort erected by Deba shi tse pa of Tsang close to which there are the buffaloes of Tam-than Chhoi gyal the monkey of the goddess PaMan Mag dsorma the bear of the Demon Khotrapala the buckler of Nachhung and the foosteps of Khorsum carved on stone. [...] The shrine also contains the self-sprung image of Chanrassig the image of Maitreya Buddha in the interior of which are precious and sacred inscriptions of King Kriki of Panchala the image of Tsonglchapa the image of Srisum Gyalmo (goddess unrivalled) known in India by the name of Sachi Karnini and numerous other sacred objects a description of all of which will be found in the work called [...] At a distance of half a mile from the city to the west of it stands the famed palace of Pottili the residence of Chanrassig the Lord of the world who in human shape is incarnate in the Dalai Lama.
