In this manner the date of the Kusin king Basana is approximately fixed and a definite starting point is obtained for the calculation of the chronology of the Later Great Kusän coinage. [...] Tho legend seems to include the name of Arjuoa and the word patraaa the genitive of paha 'a eon.' The coin certainly seems to belong to the Saurishtran series but no other example of the suastika reverse device is known and the legend seems to be different from that on any published coin. The characters may be described as Bangiili of the Kutila type of the 12th century similar to the inscription of Ananta-ViisudOva and very near to the characters of the coppeplate grant of Nrsirilha Deva with a somewhat archaic look As in most other inscriptions of Bengal Behar and Orissa of that period we find here no distinction between the letters b and v [...] From this DVARADVA descended MOLADIVAI the crown of his family holding the foremost place among the learned putting an end to the prosperity of the enemy smiling as the moon and blooming on the creeper of renown (V 4). [...] Of them one became the ornament of the world and the stay of all people and the other the alleviator of the heat of poverty as Laksrui is (in cooling the mind) of Cintimani (Visnu) (V 6).
