Statistics relating to consumption of Petrol by different types of vehicles in each of the various regions in which the Province is split up for the purposes of Petrol Rationing have been collected from the office of the Provincial Rationing Authority. [...] As figures of consumption of petrol by private cars and motor cycles are not separately available except for the four quarters of 1947-48 comprison of consumption per unit of the group of `Motor cars and cycles' among regions are not very helpful on account of the varying proportions of Motor cycles to private cars in the various regions. [...] Nasik registered a slight increase in the share of consumption of petrol in the case of private cars and motor cycles stage carriages and administrative and miscellaneous purposes and a decrease in the case of other types of vehicles. [...] (8) Statement III shows the consumption of country spirit per 100 of population and the percentage of urban consumption in the total consumption of country spirit. [...] Thus though the urban population of this Province is of the order of 23 per cent the total urban consumption of country spirits is of the order of 55 per cent.
