In obedience to the Holy Father in the vast Archdiocese of New York it was once the custom as it may be to-day for all that for the diocesan authorities to outline at the beginning of the year the catechetical course to be developed during the ensuing twelvemonth and to assign to the successive Sundays certain sections of the Catechism of the Council of Trent that were to be explained and thes [...] The Vicariate is bounded on the north by the Diocese of Mangalore on the west by the Indian Ocean on the south by the Vicariate of Ernakulam and on the east by the Diocese of Coimbatore. [...] The Vicariate is bounded on the north by that of Trichur on the west by the Ocean on the south by the Vicariate of Changanacherry and on the east by the Ghauts. [...] It is situated entirely in the Native State of Travancore and is surrounded by the Vicariate of Ernakulam in the north the Arabian Sea in the west the Diocese of Qailon in the south and the Ghauts in the east. [...] Mount Mannanam the cradle of the congregation the scene of the heroic labours and saintly life of the founders thereof is the most sacred place within the reach of our memory in the land of Malabar.
