He is full of praise for the artistic excellence of Tyagaraja ' published in the July-212 TRIVENI August Triveni but he questions the correctness of the identifcation of the subject of the picture with the great Tyagaraja. [...] The Fedeation is to materialise only when a certain proportion of the Indian States signify their intention to accede; the establishment of a Reserve Bank must precede the transfer of responsibility at the centre; the powers to be vested in the Viceroy and the Governors of provinces promise a long continuance of autocratic rule; no timlimit is set to the period of transition nor to the Indi [...] Turning to the subject of the validity of such consciousness he first of all adduces the evidence of the experience of great men of all countries : the Rishis of the Vedas Sankara the Buddha Moses Jesus St. [...] But the character and history of Macbeth himself form as it were a point of concentration for the various 0"226 TRIVENI elements of life and character mingled in the play and if we limit our study for the present to the central character of the piece we are at any rate at the centre of the poet's thoughts and may hope to catch something of his meaning. [...] The murder is discovered in the most natural way and even the blunder of slaying the grooms is lost sight of in the sensation which follows discovery of the flight of the King's sons.
