A. The Lake Superior copper district in the State of Michigan the oldest and the greatest copper district in the U.S. [...] Here native copper forms the bulk of the ores occurring in the amygdules of the lava flows and as a cement and replacement material in the conglomerates and ash beds. [...] The fluctuations in the production of lead were less marked than in the case of copper and that mine production in 1938 was more than that of the previous year. [...] Of the Axis Powers Germany is the largest lead-consuming nation and the third largest in the world next to the U.S. [...] The increased production of zinc in Germany is due to the development of the Magdeburg electrolytic zinc plant which serves the Upper Silesia zinc mining district and to the rehabilitation of the Oker Brunswick Duisberg and other smelting plants.
