In fact the intensive study of the types of human habitations in its variegated patterns and structure from the primitive nomadic encampments to the modern "planed habitation" which seems to be enchained in a complex fabrication of functional relationship to the ecological framework of individual regions forms the rudimentary core of the whole course of the treatise. [...] The author has at the outset analysed the ecology of human habittion in so far as it explains the spatial patterns of population and settlement forms the interelations and inter-dependence of density mobility and tempb of life with their complexities raised by religious implications and thus has sought to equate the types of habitation to the fundamental eclogical processes. [...] He discusses the evolution of primitive habitations including the encampments of the nomadic Kirghiz of Chukchee of Arctic Tundras of Tropical fruigatherers and of forest-dwellers of Indonesia and analyses the planning of their habitations which roughly falls into three broad types : circular ribbonlike and "street or heap village".
