For instance at one time it fell to my lot to submit a scheme of suitable provision for the many members of the once reigning family in Sind—Muhammadans—after the conquest of the province by British troops ; at another one of my particular cares was the organisation and control of schools in the same locality and I had the satisfaction of sending from my classes the first Sindhi who matriculate [...] That a man is a traveller is a sufficient recommendation to admit him to share the camel-hair tent of the Arab upon the plains or the roomy dwelling-house of the Turkman Boy within the precincts of the town. [...] We may almost infer that the beautiful passage in the Book of Wisdom comparing " the hope of the ungodly " to the smoke which is dispersed here and there with a tempest and passeth away as the remembrance of a guest that tarrieth " but for a day " alludes to the hospitality of the period ignorant of the personality of the many wayfarers to whom it is freely dispensed. [...] But it may be well to quote the short first chapter of the Koran which is in itself the prayer of every follower of Islam " Praise be to God the Lord of all creatures ; the most Merciful the King of the Day of Judgment. [...] The consecrating Bishops were the Bishop of Calcutta Metropolitan of India and Ceylon the Bishop of Madras the Bishop of Bombay and the Bishop of Colombo.
