There are certain savings amounting to £315 made up of £200 lapsing on the decease of two Canadian Clergymen with whom the Society had life covenants ; £40 of the guaranteed income of the Bishop of New Westminster released by the progress of the Endowment of the See ; £60 for a printing press in the Diocese of Bloemfontein which is no longer required ; and £15 for the education of Missionary S [...] The reason for the phenomenon is this : the expenditure is in the main uniform month by month through the year the income is not ; the bulk of it is not sent by the local Treasurers all over the country to the Society's office until the close of the financial year. [...] 'The examination was broken off in the middle by the usual evening service when the day being the Feast of the Epiphany the second lesson recounted the miracle at Cana of Galilee and a suitable address was given by Tee May the sub-deacon on the subject of the manifestation of Christ in bodily form on earth and spiritually now to the hearts of all his faithful people. [...] This brought up the subject of due preparation for the reception of Christ in the heart and consequently the due preparation to the Holy Communion arranged to take place on the Sunday morning following. [...] The leaves are like leather and one of the four petals which form the flower reminds me of the under-lip of the common garden flower called Snapdragon." The spot. is an awkward one for the path slopes down to a huge rock flush with the ground and very slippery ; after which the earth has given way for about 2 feet and the only way of escape is to stride across.
