This release of Oriental gold is entirery result of the devaluation of the pound and does not justify a.change in estimates ()I the normal absorption of India on the assumtion of the general restoration of the gold standard at old parities. [...] tion-ridden the Committee recommend that "296 THE MYSORE ECONOMIC JOURNAL with a view to remove the tyranny of the Matriculation Examination Heads of Secondary Schools should he permitted to hold their own examinations and issue Secondary School Leaving Certificates on the basis of full four years' record of pupils' work in the class-room on the playfield in the workshop in the social and gen [...] The above experiment be tried in the first instance during 1938.-39 that if the results are assuring enough the scope of the experiment be extended -during 1939-40 that the position be reviewed fully before the end of 1939-40 and that in the light of experience gained arrangements for the complete reorganisation of Primary Eduction be made within five years. [...] Payment in sterling is made to the London exporter and the hills will be sent to the Indian port centres to the Central Bank of India for collection of the same from the Indian importer.2 On the date of the maturity of the bill rupee curency will be paid.
