Annual Report of the Department of Agriculture Bombay Presidency for the year 1909-10

Sir I have the honour to submit herewith the Annual Report of the operations of the Agricultural Department for the year ending June 30th 1910. [...] After part of the demonstration has been held in the morning the visitors are given a meal on the farm about midday after which they discuss matters of interest with the farm staff before the demonstration closes in the evening. [...] As regards organisation we arranged with well owners that they should provide the labour in all cases and when water was struck they should agree in addition to pay for the cost of the piping and the wages of the mukadam. [...] The overseer was ill-advised to continue operations in this locality where the experience of last year had given small prospect of success. In the Borsad taluka on the other hand boring gave satisfactory results ; in the Umetha state the six borings made were all successful and in the Surat District the six wells bored were all successful. [...] As mentioned in Chapter III several of the Associations were resposible for the organisation of agricultural shows : and in many cases the members took great personal interest in the work and devoted much time and trouble to make the show a success.
