The Government during the year under review drew the attention of the Session Judges to the propriety of restricting 'sentences of solitary imprisonment to the limit of one month of continuous duration and to one month in every six of ordinary confinement. [...] [Bombay.] ( 8 ) attributable to the absence of several of the Officers of the Inam Commission and to its having been found necessary towards the close of the year to slacken operations owing to the probability of the enquiry being shortly superseddll by a summary settlement. [...] In Sattara the Koregaum Talooka and the remainder of the Khanapoor Talooka were also settled whilst in the rest of the collectorate the survey has made considerable progress and the measurement of every talooka is either copleted or in progress. [...] In the Hyderabad Collectorate the operations of the survey were confined to the Talooka of Goonee where they are reported complete with the exception of the interior measurements of some small Jagheers. [...] The army however having been reduced not only by the return of European troops to England but by the transfer of some of them to the Bengal Presidency and employment in the expedition to China as also likewise by the gradual reduction of the Native Army to the peace establishment it is expected that this deficit will be considerably lessened.( 15 ) [Bombay.] From the accounts/tor the year a
