Annual Report of the Department of Agriculture Bengal for the Year 1924-25

SIR 1 have the honour to submit herewith the Annual Report of the Department of Agriculture Bengal together with the reports of the Expert Officers and of the Farms for the -year 1924-25. [...] The cultivation is done on a modification of the Thrya system and cultivators on the area are supplied with deparmental seeds of paddy jute sitgarcane on the principle of return after harvest in addition to the Departmental share of the produce. [...] The outstanding features of the season were the large amount approaching 500 maunds of seed of Cochonts Capsularis sold in the Faridpur district on which Balm Defiendra Nath Mira District Agricultural Officer is to be congratulated; and the vigorous demand for the seed of Chinsurah Green " in the Chauadanga subdivision of Nadia district. [...] of progress is being made largely on the initiative of the Divisional Agricultural Association which meets periodically.under the presidency of the Commissioner of the Division. [...] In the last year the criterion for a share of the grant from the Agricultural Department was that the amount received should he expended on the extension of the area under departmental crops.
