SIR You are hereby ordered to Weigh anchor & make the best of your Way to Cuddalore where on your arrival you are to deliver the accompanying Packet to the Chief & Council there & [. ] our Orders for your future Prceedings. [...] With these General Directions you will take the most effectual Measures to renew the Contracts on the most advantageous Terms for the Copany & on the same Plan as the last Year and We hope the Merchants will more scrupulously adhere to their Engagements. [...] GENTLEMEN We transmitt to you herewith a [list of Investment] to be provided this Year at your Settlement for which you will agree with your Merchants on the most favourable Terms you are able after they have settled the Balla nces that may be due from them on their Contract for last year; as the Investment should be conducted on the same Plan at all the Settlements enclosed is the Form of the Con [...] We hope you will be able to attend more Tparticularly to the improvement of the Long Cloth Ordinary in the Boney & uney Countries which we have before recommended to your attention & we wish you could also find means to procure Salampores Ordinary which fomerly were provided with advantage to the Northerners. [...] Enclosed is a List of Investment to be provided this year at Masulipatam & Bandarmalanka with the copy of the form observed here with the Mechants for your Guidance in renewing your contract which must be done in the most favourable Terms after the Ballances due [from] them for the last year have been cleared off.
