[...] The progress made in the demareation of forests was not so satisfactory as in the previous year in the South and Central Thana Divisions The falling off in both these Divisions was due to the Survey establishment being shorter handed:than in the previous year. [...] The enhancement in the cost rate of the detail Survey is explained partly by the fact that the work was split up into 2 small camps operating in 'different parts of the Atana District each under an European officer but chiefly to the increase in the total cost of the Party owing to the appointment of Mr. [...] The increase of cases was in the Panel' Maltals Division but the compensation demanded in Lie m i.joity of them was only noutintal on account of the reduced condition of the people.
