India 1946PREFACE THE introduction of the quadrennial system of recoris the abolition of the old post of Sadar Qanungo the recruitment of supervisor qanungos by means of an open competitive examintion the passing of the United Provinces Board of Revenue Act of 1922 and the consequent transfer of the control of the Land Records Department from the Board of Revenue to Government necessitated t [...] During the year 1935-36 a revision of the Land Records Manual was rendered necessary owing to the abolition of the quadrennial system of records the creation of the post of superintending qanungo the retransfer of the control of the Land Records Department to the Board of Revenue the passing of the United Provinces Land Revenue (Amendment) Act of 1932 and the need for a simplification of the r [...] (e) If the persons in whom the nomination is vested neglect to nominate a successor to the patwari within fifteen days from the occurrence of the vacancy the Collector shall call upon them by notice to make the nomination and if they fail to do so within fifteen days from the receipt of the notice the Collector shall himself make the appointment. [...] (c) In the case of the khewa'4 the number of entries is to be taken to mean the number of co-sharers and in the case of the khatauni and khasra the number of fields entered in the extract. [...] (4) If the landholder is not resident in the village the patwari shall on the request of the tenant make entries in the first four columns of the account form and make it over to the tenant who shall make direct payment to the landholder and obtain the accounts.
