University of Calcutta. Report on the Working of the Applied Section of the Department of Psychology 1942

FORE WARD The present report of the Applied Section of the Department of Psychology has been drawn up mainly with the view to supplying the guardians of students and the members of the teaching profession with the necessary information in connection with vocational guidance. [...] Three days in the week will be fixed for the practical work of holding tests in the different schools of Calcutta under the direct supervision of the staff of the Section. [...] The lecturer in charge of this Section will be responsible to the Head of the Department of Psychology for the work in his Section and it is needless to mention that the Head of the Department will be responsible to the University. [...] The level of concrete intelligence is determined on the basis of the time taken and the number of movements made by the candidate as also by the degree of completeness of the solution. [...] The richness of conception as displayed in the choice of the model and the skill with which the chosen model is executed determine the constructional ability of the candidate.
