The attention of the Government of India and through it of the Goverment of Madras was directed in 1868 to the importance of the examination purchase or transcription of Sanskrit Manuscripts in Indian Libraries and the framing of printed lists or catalogues of the same (Proceedings of the Government of India in the Home Department (Public) No. [...] During the course of my work as Editor of the Descriptive Catalogue of the Sanskrit Manuscripts of the Tanjore Palace Library my attention was invited to the valuable collection of Telugu Manuscripts in the Library by my friend Mr. [...] The period of the Nayak Kings of Tanjore was in splendour and richness of output the immediate corollary of the period of Krsnadevaraya at Vijayanagar. [...] The fifth is a great Prabandha from the pen of the Royal author Raghunatha Nayak the patron of the author of the famous Vijaya-Vilasamu. [...] The former gives many details of the achievements of Emperor Venkatapatiraya of Penukonda and the latter some details of the life of Shahji the eldest son of Ekoji I of Tanjore.
