In spite of the new developments in the work of the Laboratory relating to testing of samples for cotton firms and mills the bulk of the work of the Laboratory is still done for the Agricultural Departments which was and must necessarily remain one of its primary concerns. [...] This increase as may be expected from the preceding account is most pronounced in the case of the cloth and yarn test reports while the spinning test reports show a small decrease owing to the partial stoppage of work in the spinning room as explained above.6 The following table gives the strength of the staff employed at the Lboratory on 31st May 1940 together with the corresponding figures [...] This investigation is in progress."14 (6) -Effect of employing different treatments in the blow-room..--Sometime back the Indian Central Cotton Committee decided that the whole problem of employing different beater speeds in the °tighten opener and the scutcher of.giving different number of treatments in these machines of employing different sequences of machines in the blow-room on the spinni [...] varies from mill to mill it is not always possible to say that the same magnitude of difference shall hold between the Laboratory on the one hand and the different mills on the other In spite of these difficulties since the mills were anxious to use the results of tests carried out at the Laboratory on trade samples and their own samples and to interpret them according to their needs the India [...] In the course of this investigation it was observed that the copper number of the samples drawn immediately after the monsoon was somewhat higher than that of the samples drawn in the dry season.
