Thus in a short time partly in consequence of tho strong desire for the acquisition of land on the part of the tenant— partly in consequence of the short-sighted policy on the part of the landlord the sum received by the oat-going tenant from his successor lost all proportion to the real value of the improvements for which it was supposed to be the equivalent.
