Stanley Lane-Poole in the catalogue of the coins of the Sultans of Dehli in the cabinet of the British Museum. [...] Leaving out of account the Arab conquest of Sind in the aighth century and the in anion of Mahmfid of Ghazni in the early years of the eleventh fituhammadan rule in India may be said to have commenced with the second battle of Thineswar towards the close of the sixth century after the Flight. [...] 4 In my own cabinet (unedited>"8 SULTANS OF DEHLI In the reign of the founder of the Khaljfs Jalalu-d-din Ffroz the first attempt was made to extend the influence of Dehlf over the south of India. [...] Spiritual allegiance to the Khalffate is thrown off and Mubarak does not hesitate to proclaim himself 0 1..611 14elac the supreme head of the religion of Islam the Khalifa of the Lord of heaven and earth.' The name of Dehlf on the coins is disguised by the more pretentious titles of Hazrat Daru-l-Khilifat Daru-l-Islam and Qutbabad. [...] The name of the reigning monarch reappears on the coins along with that of the Khalffa of the time.
