The following statement shows the total area of each class of forests and land at the close of the year and their percentage to the total area of the Presidency :— Percentage of the Square total area (76 960 miles. [...] The increase in the length of bridle paths is due to revision of length in the Darjeeling Division and the addition of a path of 3 miles in the Kalimpong Divsion which was abandoned in the past. [...] The decrease as compared with the average of the previous 3 years was due to strict vigilance on the part of the subordinate staff. [...] Small landslips were noticed in the Buxa and Cyclone.—On the evening of the 21st April.1936 the Nilpara Location and Gadadhar block of the Panbari Range of the Buxa Division were struck by an exceptionally severe north-wester which damaged practically all the buildings in those localities. [...] The erosion of the river in the Buxa Division was much less than before and at the close of the monsoon there was an indication of a swing back to the westward.
