The system of mukhtars and vakils who combine the functions of a counsel and of an attorney is introduced in the Muhammadan period. [...] The following arc the important provisions of this Regulation :— The power of appointment and removal of Zillah vakils and native pleaders is transferred to the Provincial Courts from the Diwani Adawlat. [...] X of 182o and provides for the dismissal of pleaders convicted of a criminal offence and for the procedure to enquire into the misconduct of a pleader Act XX of 1853 introduces the following changes : — No pleader is bound to attend court every day or to notify his inability to attend except for the day on the hearing of a cause in „which he is emploed takes place. [...] Attorneys on the roll of any of Her Majesty's Supreme Courts in India are authorised to plead in any of the Sudder Courts of the East India Company. [...] Some amendments have been made by Act X of 1884 Act XI of 1896 Act VI of 1900 Act I of 1903 Act I of 1908 Act X of 1914 and Act XVIII of 'gig and they are noted in each section of the Act.
