The construction and management of State railways was under the control of the Public Works Department of the Government of India until 1905 when as the result of The RilliwaY Board. [...] The Department consists at present of the office of the Chief Controller of Stores which is located at the heaquarters of the Government of India and of inspection agencies at 'Calcutta Jamshedpur and Karachi. [...] The principal officers of the Department are the Chief Controller of Stores the Director of Inpection and the Director of Purchase and Intelligence.
