Annual Report on the Working of Co-operative Societies in the Bombay Presidency Including Sind For the twelve months ending March 31 1915

Sir I have the honour to forward the Annual Report on the working of the Co-operative Societies in the Presidency excluding Sind. [...] At the beginning of the year At the end of the year. [...] A notable feature of the year has been the progress of societies of this kind in the city of Bombay the qualification for membership being proximity of residence or community of caste or occupation. [...] The reason for this is the great increase in the amount of loans overdue from members to the societies and the consequent diminution of their credit. [...] Owing to the withdrawal of a number of deposits towards the close of the year the Union was obliged to refer some of its affiliated societies to the Bombay Central Bank for loans ; but the Bank was compelled to refuse several applications on account of bad management or lack of security.
